In this session, Sara will share a range of materials created by Indigenous peoples for use with students in grades 6-12. The primary focus will be on reading in English Language Arts; however, some materials and strategies can also be used in other curricular areas.

  • Sara Davidson

    Sara Florence Davidson is a Haida/settler Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. She is passionate about literacy and brings Indigenous perspectives and pedagogies into this work. Sara is the co-author of Potlatch as Pedagogy: Learning through Ceremony and the forthcoming Sk’ad’a Stories picture book series, which she wrote with her father Haida artist Robert Davidson. She is also the co-author of Magical Beings of Haida Gwaii, which she wrote with her stepmother, Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson.
