Diversity and Inclusion in the K-7 Classroom

'Tricky topics' around diversity, equity, and inclusion can feel challenging to approach in the K-7 classroom. This workshop will include ideas and strategies to include topics such as: race and anti-racism, sexual health, issues of inequity, and SOGI. We will discuss how to ground your teaching practice in the K-7 Provincial Curriculum, Core Competencies, and policy. Classroom-friendly resources, books, websites will also be discussed and shared.

    Sarah Hibberd has been teaching with School District 57 since 2012. She is currently a Grade 6/7 Teacher at Foothills Elementary and recently completed a Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Toronto, with a focus in topics of social justice in the K-7 classroom.
