Topics related to equity and social justice (e.g. gender/sexual orientation, sexual health, race, economic) can sometimes be edited and glossed over even when curriculum documents and policy support their place in the elementary classroom. This workshop will discuss how to create a classroom community where such topics can be addressed at developmentally appropriate levels, using curriculum documents, policy, and related resources to support your practice.
Sarah has been an intermediate classroom teacher at Foothills Elementary since 2013. She is currently completing an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Policy through the University of Toronto, with a focus on addressing equity and social justice issues with elementary students.
