MineralsEd’s Grade 7/8 Earth Sciences Resource Unit is a collection of creative and instructive activities and demonstrations that support the Earth sciences curriculum, and helps teach the fundamentals of geology, rocks and minerals, the structure of the Earth, plate tectonics, the history of our planet, and more. At the workshop, teachers will receive an introduction to geology, practice hands-on activities from each of the main chapters, review the support materials, and receive advice on implementation of this learning resource.

Kerry Lockwood is a MineralsEd partner-teacher who currently teaches general science, biology, chemistry and Earth science at Pinetree Secondary in Coquitlam. Kerry is a rock enthusiast, and the lead-writer and developer of this creative and comprehensive Earth Science unit. She has presented this inservice workshop to hundreds of teachers across BC.
