Physical Activity and Physical Literacy for All (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion)

Do all of your students feel included and respected in physical and health education, and in class physical activities? The focus of this workshop is to equip educators to take proactive actions that will ensure that every student can fully participate in all aspects of physical activity and learning. Discuss specific considerations and inclusion strategies, and learn how to make a difference in the enjoyment of physical activity for all students.

    Rob Stiles

    Dwayne Roberts is currently in his 25th year as a health and wellness coach.  Dwayne has been a Master Facilitator for the ISPARC FitNation program since its inception in 2012.  He has worked with amateur and professional athletes across various sports improving their athletic abilities.  Dwayne is currently working with our elders transitioning to retirement, which for some means increasing their levels and engagement in physical activity.  In addition, he partners with elementary schools throughout the Greater Toronto Area implementing after-school programs involving sports.

    Erica McLean

    Erica McLean, a Community School Coordinator from School District 57, comes from the Gitxsan First Nation in Hazelton, B.C. Her background in social work and educational leadership allows her to continue pursuing her personal and professional interest in early intervention/prevention community practice, focusing on an Indigenous lens. Working in schools and with community partners gives Erica the space to grow her passion for fitness and wellness. A former mascot with cheerleading experience, Erica enjoys community involvement through being a volunteer Board member and coaching students in CrossFit. Her days are usually spent with her family, writing, and doing anything outside.
