NOTE: This is an in-person session -- meet at Rainbow Park, on Rainbow Drive across from the Spruceland fields.
Bring Disc Golf to your school! Are you looking to bring a new sport to your school that is accessible for all students, meets the COVD protocols, and provides a fun experience for your kids? As teachers, we are constantly searching for PE programs that provide safe, engaging experiences that allow our students to develop new skills, stay active and engage in outdoor activities. Disc golf is a sport that can be played on any schoolyard, park, or green space to get your kids outside and active.
Disc golf shares the same joys and frustrations of regular golf, whether it's sinking a long putt or hitting a tree halfway down the fairway. There are a few differences, though: Disc golf is often free to play in public parks, you probably won't need to rent a cart; and your "tee time" will usually come during tournament competition, not casual play.
Disc golf is designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages, gender identity, and economic status, making it a great lifetime fitness activity. Because disc golf is so easy to learn, no one is excluded; players merely match their pace to their capabilities and proceed from there.
Our goal with this Pro D session is to provide teachers with the tools required to teach Disc Golf in their schools using their local facilities. Whether it is your own schoolyard or perhaps even a course nearby, we will provide the skills and strategies required to provide your students the best possible disc golf experience. This program will discuss the various throws, discs and guidelines used to best provide disc golf opportunities for your school.
Registration is limited. We look forward to providing all you need to get a PE or extra curricular disc golf program running in your school.
